Amy Weinstein, Associate Curator, 20th/21st Century
Collections at the New-York Historical Society. She holds a master’s degree in the
History of Decorative Arts from the Cooper Hewitt / National Design Museum
/ Smithsonian Institution. For the three years, she has concentrated
on documenting and preserving “evidence” of the terrorist
attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the rescue and
recovery efforts at Ground Zero, and the global humanitarian response
to New York City. In connection with that project, Ms. Weinstein has
curated several exhibitions at the Society, including Through a Child’s
Eyes and 9/11 One Year Later, as well as The Rescue, a look at the September
11th experience of a Brooklyn fire house in the context of its 75 year
history. Prior to joining the New-York Historical Society, she was a
member of the curatorial staff at the Museum of the City of New York.
Museum work is a second career for Ms. Weinstein, who previously worked
as an attorney practicing in the fields of financial services and government
relations.
