Alison Zimbalist

Alison Zimbalist is the Senior Producer, Education for The New York Times on the Web. Her main role is heading up The New York Times Learning Network, a free Web site for teachers of grades 3-12, their students and parents, which provides numerous daily classroom resources based on that day's Times. A St. Louis native, Zimbalist graduated from Emory University
in Atlanta, Georgia with a B.A. in English and certification in language arts grades 7-12. She taught high school language arts at Salem High School in Conyers, Georgia for three years. After earning her M.Ed. from Emory in 1997, Zimbalist moved to New York and taught tenth and eleventh grade humanities at Metropolitan Corporate Academy in Brooklyn, where she was
a member of the school steering committee and a pioneer in the school's service learning program. Zimbalist joined The Times in August, 1998, and has been instrumental in developing the features of the Learning Network site from a pedagogical standpoint.
